Eating a burger doesn’t have to be bad

When we think of bad foods a burger usually comes to mind because of the way it has been marketed with the fast food chains. However, you can cook a burger at home and it be perfectly healthy. You don’t have to add the cheese and the bun. You can have some sweet potatoes and some vegetable on the side for carbs.  This week my Monday meal is a burger with minimal fat. I believe if you get burgers that have been produced with a low fat content they can be as healthy as any other meat. All it really is, is minced meat pushed into a patty with some spices.

It also feels like a little bit of a treat because people think that burgers are bad for you. Whereas, this one isn’t. You don’t have to have this on a Monday, you could have it any time in the week. This is inspiration for you to look at if you decide to have a burger. Also remember anything in excess is bad for you.

What to buy

  • 5% fat Beef Burgers
  • Rocket leaves
  • tomatoes
  • pepper
  • spring onion
  • sweet potatoes
  • coconut oil
  • paprika powder
  • ground pepper

How to make it

  1. Cut up the potatoes and par boil them in water for 8 minutes. Then place them in a bowl and sprinkle on the paprika powder and ground pepper. Whilst the potatoes had been boiling the oven should warming up to 180 degrees celsius. Once the potatoes are ready to go in the oven add some coconut oil to the tray before placing them on it.
  2. After 20 minutes, put some oil in a pan to fry the burgers. Fry them to your choice and then remove them from the heat. It the potatoes are done after the burgers are done. Let them cool before serving.
  3. Whilst the warm food is cooling off. Cut the tomatoes, pepper and spring onion up to serve next to your meal with some rocket.
  4. Enjoy your burger guilt free knowing that you are putting something healthy in your body.

Last Note:

It is the way you think about food that could be holding you back from potentially losing fat and being healthy. When trying to loose fat it’s not about starving yourself and thinking the less calories are going to help fat loss. It’s about giving your body the food it needs to be healthy. Once your body has got used to eating a healthy diet and it knows you aren’t starving it from certain foods. It will start to change in the way that you want it to change.
